October gatherings…

For those who are interested, there are a couple of gatherings planned for the month of October. They’re both no-host and informal.

GIRLS NIGHT OUT

Need a break from your usual Friday night routine? Then plan on meeting some of your fellow classmates on Friday, October 2nd (start at 6:00pm until ?) at Donnelly’s for some relaxation and girl-talk. (And to show that we’re equal-opportunity, if you’re a guy and still want to join in, you’re entirely welcome!) For those not familiar with the location, here’s the address:

EPHS HOMECOMING FOOTBALL GAME

Join your fellow classmates to root on the Eagles, as they take on the Mazama Vikings in a Southern Sky Conference match-up. The game begins at 7:00pm at the EPHS football field on campus. For those interested in attending and sitting together, please plan on meeting at 6:00pm in order to ensure your seat with the rest of the group. Hope to see you there!

Thanks to everyone that was able to make it out for the reunion activities last month! The turnout was small, but everyone had a great time catching up with each other.

If you have any photos you’d like to share with your classmates, please submit them to ephs1984ATgmailDOTcom and we’ll post them to a folder on Flickr. We’ve already started with some, so check out the Flickr link on the sidebar to the left!

Schedule Announced

Details regarding the reunion schedule have been set and can be found on the “Schedule Info” page above this post. The Friday event will be in the evening from 7pm until ? The Saturday event will be held 11am-6pm. Location and event information are also listed on the page.

Please note the following items:

Both events are NO COST. Based on the current economic environment, as well as the amount of time available to plan this reunion, we’ve opted to schedule activities aimed at minimizing costs. Attendees to the Saturday family picnic will need to bring their own food/drinks, but bottled water will be provided. Also at the Saturday event, if you would like to make a small donation to the Class of 1984 fund for a future reunion, you can do so.
An RSVP for the Saturday event is REQUIRED! When reserving the Day Use area at the park, we were required to pay based on projected headcount. Please help us save money by providing your RSVP as soon as possible so that we may determine if our headcount is accurate. The park will work with us to adjust our numbers, if required.
A new e-mail address has been created for communications regarding the reunion. If you have any questions or comments, please send them to “ephs1984ATgmailDOTcom”. (If you’re confused by the e-mail address as posted, just read it out loud and the CAPS will make sense. Gotta avoid the spammers!)
Please take a moment to review the Missing Classmates list. If you have a current e-mail address for someone on the list, please submit it. We’re compiling a master contact list and e-mail will help keep costs to a minimum. If you have a cell phone or land line number, we’ll be happy to call them!

Updates, updates, updates!

Thanks to everyone that participated in our last poll in June! With your input, we were able to set some plans in place for our Saturday event, which will be kid-friendly and in the $10-25/person cost range. Specific details will be announced shortly, but here is the plan for August 7th & 8th:

Friday, August 7th: No host event at Donnelly’s Sports Bar & Grill in Medford (evening event)

Saturday, August 8th: BBQ picnic/potluck at Joseph Stewart State Park (Lost Creek Lake) day use area (daytime event)

If you live out of the area and are in need of overnight accommodations for that weekend, please see our “Need a hotel?” page link under the blog banner for details. Fran Settell was kind enough to arrange a block of rooms at the Fairfield Inn (Marriott) in Central Point under her corporate rate discount through Gazelle Collision. The block of 10 rooms will only be held for our group until July 28th, so reserve yours now. If you call or reserve online after that date, the rate will still be honored, but you will be subject to room availability.

Our next planning meeting will be held on Thursday, July 9th, at 7:30pm at Abby’s Pizza in White City. If you live in the area, we’d love to have you attend, as we could sure use the planning help for Saturday’s event. The meeting has been announced on both Classmates and Facebook (Eagle Point HS – Class of 1984 group). If you have any questions, please leave a comment here on the blog and someone will contact you directly.

Lastly, we could really use your help contacting our fellow classmates. If you know anyone that has a current e-mail address, mailing address or phone number, please send it on to Kim Thurman at “weak4wineATgmailDOTcom” (sorry for the funny listing, but it eliminates all those spam mails–you guys know the proper symbols) ASAP. We’re now in the process of scrubbing the list obtained from the D9 Foundation and your help would truly be appreciated. Also, be sure to forward on the address of this blog to anyone you know from the class, as this is the most cost-effective way we have to communicate our reunion information. Thanks!!

Date set–now what?

Thanks to everyone who voted in last month’s poll to determine the date of the reunion. You can now mark your calendars for Friday, August 7th, and Saturday, August 8th, for events. Friday’s event will be a no-host informal gathering at Donnelly’s Sports Bar and Grill (in the same building at Lava Lanes). Details such as address and time will be announced as we get closer to the date.

Now we’re working on Saturday’s event. The day use area at Stewart State Park had an opening (at least recently it did), where we could hold a BBQ/potluck during the day on Saturday. If anyone else has any other location that they are aware of or would like to volunteer to host a rather large group, please let Fran or Kim know. In order to decide at next week’s reunion meeting what our activity will be, we have a couple of polls for you to determine if the day is kid-friendly and how much attendees would be willing to spend. Deadline on both polls will be Thursday, June 25th.

25th Reunion Date?

We’ve identified two possible weekends in August to hold our 25th class reunion activities. We’d like feedback from our classmates on which date you’d prefer, so please be sure to vote below for your favorite choice. If you have a different date in mind, please post it as a comment here. We will try to take all dates into consideration, but we are aiming to avoid holding the reunion before the Jackson County Fair (July 21-26).

In order to get plans rolling quickly, we’ll collect polls responses until May 16th. Thanks for your assistance!
